Innovation Boost

About the programme

Supporting cross-border business on the island of Ireland through developing and embedding innovation.

Product development and innovation is at the heart of growth but often needs costly technology support. Previously known as Fusion, Innovation Boost can provide that support by helping to fund a high calibre science, engineering or technology graduate and partnering you with a third level institution with specific expertise.

The graduate is employed by you and is based in your company throughout the project (12 – 18 months) with mentoring from the academic partner and InterTradeIreland Innovation Boost consultant.

Funding available

£56,000/€67,900

18 month support package – worth up to £56,000 / €67,900 typically in the area of new product / service development.

£39,000/€47,400

12 month support project – worth £39,000/€47,400 typically in the area of process improvement.

Innovation Boost Business to Business Partnerships

InterTradeIreland also supports the development of collaborative and innovative cross-border business to business partnerships, where two or more businesses partner to develop a solution to a problem, develop a new product or improve a process.

The projects, which must be aligned with InterTradeIreland’s corporate objectives, can provide support for up to £50,000 per partner which is 50% match funded by the business. Cross-border business to business collaborative innovation projects offer real value to participants and support the development and integration of new knowledge, processes and expertise.

In addition, and if appropriate, an academic partner with expertise in the project area can also provide additional support and knowledge. The academic partner can also help ensure the project deliverables are significant in terms of technology transfer to enable increased competitiveness and efficiency, which supports InterTradeIreland’s remit to facilitate and foster increased collaboration and cross-border trade.
