InterTradeIreland – The Trade and Business Development Body (the Body), in carrying out its functions, powers, and duties is fully committed to the fulfillment of its obligation to have due regard to the need to promote equality of opportunity, as required under Section 75 and Schedule 9 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998. The Body will also have regard to the desirability of promoting good relations between people of different religious belief, political opinion, and racial group.
InterTradeIreland developed a revised Approved Equality Scheme 2012 which sets out how it proposed to fulfill these obligations when carrying out its duties. Since this time the Body has undertaken screening on a number of its policies and as part of this process has considered measures which might mitigate any adverse impact in terms of equality of opportunity.
The Body believes that fulfilling the aim and objectives of an equality agenda is best served through a determined commitment to actively promote equality of opportunity within its working environment and will allocate the necessary resources (in terms of people, time and money) to achieve this.
