Póca Productions

Recently Póca Productions took part in the InterTradeIreland Go-2-Tender programme, designed to help them access the valuable public sector tender market.

About Póca Productions

Póca Productions specialise in training public and private sector clients in the skills necessary to produce professional video and audio content using the technology and software available in a smartphone.

Based in Letterkenny, Co Donegal Póca Productions have been developing and adapting their Smartphone Video Training programmes with a variety of clients from both the private and public sector for over 6 years. One of the challenges for their business was that many of their clients are based in Dublin, Galway and Limerick - so often onsite training involved travelling long distances and an overnight stay. Póca knew that their nearest urban centres are Derry and Belfast, so it made sense for them to explore the Northern Ireland market.

“Through our experience with InterTradeIreland we have realised that there are achievable opportunities closer to home.” Camilla Meegan, Owner

How Póca Productions have worked with InterTradeIreland

Go-2-Tender 2024 - 2025

The Go-2-Tender training programme is designed to help businesses in Ireland and Northern Ireland succeed in bidding for and servicing public sector contracts. It provides fully funded one-on-one, sector-specific support and guidance, helping businesses tap into opportunities in the all-island public procurement market.

Business owner Camilla Meeghan took part in a workshop in 2024. Delivered online over two days the Go-2-Tender workshop was delivered by an experienced tendering consultant, who provided real insight into the tendering process and shared practical guidance.

Following on from the workshop Póca Productions took the opportunity to progress to InterTradeIreland’s Go-2-Tender montoring programme which focused on securing opportunities within public sector training frameworks and defining a strategic approach for future engagements.

Their mentoring included drafting and reviewing a submission for a large public sector tender, and ensuring the content aligned with the panel’s requirements while clearly demonstrating Póca Productions’ expertise in Video Content Creation Training.

Research was also conducted to identify relevant public sector training panels across Ireland and Northern Ireland, including Skillnets, Local Enterprise Offices, councils, and government agencies. Guidance was provided on inclusion strategies beyond direct applications, such as leveraging referrals and discretionary procurement opportunities.

A comprehensive tendering strategy was also developed, outlining a clear value proposition, win themes, and supporting collateral to strengthen Póca Productions’ positioning. Additionally, an actionable Go-To-Market Strategy was defined, detailing approaches for proactive outreach, relationship-building with key buyers, and securing direct award contracts.

I always felt our business might be too small to compete for the large public sector contracts. The supports we received through InterTradeIreland Go-2-Tender workshop and the bespoke 1:1 mentoring have been invaluable. We now have the confidence to apply for large public sector opportunities and have been successful in both applications we made this year.

Outcome

Póca Productions won the tender for the New Horizons PEACEPLUS Countywide Programme, where they lead on the Building Respect for all Cultural Identities Through Participatory Filmmaking project.

With this PEACEPLUS fund Póca Productions will be able to take filmmaking training to 300 young people to make short films about aspects of culture across all the diverse communities that now live in the Northwest region. The participants will learn the skill of shooing and editing films on a smartphone, while learning more about each other's cultures. The films will be screened at two dedicated film festivals. This tender that has given Póca Productions business security for the next two years.

Winning this tender has provided an amazing opportunity for us. The help I got through the Go-2-Tender workshops and the one-to-one mentoring were invaluable to me writing the application but were also integral to giving me the confidence to submit a tender in the first place. So, this really is a good news story and we are truly grateful for all your good work.
