I am the Managing Director and Owner of Derry Group Ireland incorporating Derry Refrigerated Transport (Armagh), Coldspeed Refrigerated Transport (Dublin), Brennan Refrigerated Transport (Cork) and Carn Coldstore (Armagh), resulting in providing a full 3PL solution of storage, order picking, transport of our customers.
With an organisation of 375 staff and an extensive range of vehicles, totalling 380, we supply all major CDC, Food Service and Wholesalers on the Island of Ireland.
I grew up with experiencing the buzz of buying and selling at Belfast Fruit Market and at 9 years old earned pocket money by selling tomato boxes in and around the market. I left school at 15 years old to work in markets but by 1999 at the age of 19 years old it was clear that larger UK supermarkets were replacing the conventional food markets, so I purchased a lorry and trailer and established Derry Group Ireland. I grew the company steadily and today the company is one of the major distributions of fresh and frozen goods in Ireland.
With the successful opening of our £9 million state of art depot in 2019, being one of its kind in Ireland at the time with a further phase 2 in 2023, of a fully automated warehouse, the first of its kind in Northern Ireland. We are now delighted to be replicating another depot which is now under construction, in a prime location in Dublin.
