Ventilation manufacturer strikes six-figure deal with help from InterTradeIreland

28 Jan 2021

Northern Ireland’s Brookvent has struck a large cross-border distribution agreement in Ireland with Brooks Timber & Building Supplies. It is a significant deal for the Co. Antrim company - and it was secured with support from InterTradeIreland.

The Dunmurry firm specialises in producing energy saving ventilation systems for homes. Dane Duffy, the Sales and Marketing Director, says Ireland was identified as a target market for the firm almost 18 months ago. “It was clear that systemic change in the Irish building regulations were afoot and that mechanical system ventilation in the residential sector would likely become all but a mandatory requirement.”

Through the support of InterTradeIreland’s Acumen programme, Brookvent has been able to fast-track its market development programme and timeframe. This has included the appointment of an experienced business development manager, who has been instrumental in establishing the partnership agreement with Brooks and ensuring its early success.

Alison Currie, Operations Manager with InterTradeIreland points out that the end of the transition period has not affected the new distribution agreement. “It’s important to stress that the cross-border market is still very much open for business, and there’s plenty of scope for success. Brookvent is a great example of a company that has been open to an opportunity in the opposite jurisdiction and reaped the rewards. I’d encourage anyone who is interested in expanding their business to get in touch with us. InterTradeIreland’s Acumen programme can help you identify and fund the right people to grow your cross-border export sales.”

Declan Gormley, Brookvent Group Managing Director, commented, “Today’s announcement is the culmination of months of hard work and cooperation with Brooks which has achieved this highly significant agreement for both companies – something which is particularly noteworthy in the shadow of Covid-19 and the backdrop of Brexit.

“It is a major milestone in our plan for market development and brings considerable and immediate market opportunities to the fore. We are delighted to be partnering with one of the most well-known and respected merchant brands in the Irish market, who not only share our customer focused approach, but who have the experience and infrastructure to deliver.”

Alison Currie concludes, “We wish Brookvent every success in the future and we are delighted that we have helped play a part in their progress into the cross-border market.”
