Profile

Cathal Mallaghan is the Member of Parliament for Mid Ulster. He is a member of the Joint implementation of the Good Friday Agreement Committee in Leinster House. Prior to his election to Westminster, he served for 13 years as a councillor, during which he was Chairperson of Mid Ulster District Council and leader of the Sinn Féin group. During his time on the council, he sat on all committees and had a strategic eye on Planning and Policy & Resources.

Cathal is a director in his Agri business and has experience in logistics and export in former roles.

He has held a number of public appointments, including with Libraries NI, the Housing Executive, the Fire and Rescue Service, the Housing Council, the Northern Local Commissioning Group for Health and Social Care, and the Irish Central Border Area Network.

A strong advocate for community development, Cathal played a leading role in the SEUPB £7 million Connecting Pomeroy Project, which delivered vital community infrastructure. He continues to work closely with businesses to provide high quality services and support economic growth throughout Mid Ulster.
