Professor Brian MacCraith, Jackie King and Dr Richard Fernandes have all been appointed to the board of InterTradeIreland.
Established in 1999 under Strand Two of the Good Friday/Belfast Agreement, InterTradeIreland has directly assisted more than 60,000 businesses across the island, while thousands more have benefitted from its specialist information and advice. As a result, it has generated €1.95bn/£1.7bn in business development value, supported entrepreneurs to secure over €350 million in investment and led the way in growing collaborative innovation, all-island clustering and cross-border trade from €2 billion to €15 billion.

Professor Brian MacCraith was President of Dublin City University (DCU) from July 2010 to July 2020, during which time DCU grew significantly in terms of scale, footprint, and reputation. He has been active in developing international partnerships, especially in the areas of research and innovation. He also pioneered a number of important developments in the area of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. Currently, he is a Senior Advisor to the President of Arizona State University (ASU), with specific responsibility for the development of strategic initiatives for the university in Europe.
I am delighted to join the board of InterTradeIreland and I look forward to bringing my expertise in research and innovation, along with my experience of building collaborative partnerships, to support the excellent work that InterTradeIreland does across the island of Ireland.

Jackie King is the Executive Director of Ibec Global, which is the international business division of Ibec, one of Ireland’s most impactful business representative organisations. With over 25 years of experience in international business leadership, Jackie is known for her ability to build high-performing teams and lead transformative organisational change, and is recognised as an expert in managing risk for organisations with international exposure. Her extensive experience spans working with C-suite executives, boards, and public-sector officials across a diverse array of sectors and industries.
I am honored to join the board and welcome the opportunity to bring my extensive and diverse experience leading high performing organisations and driving transformative outcomes. The work of InterTradeIreland in helping businesses unlock their potential and foster sustainable growth across the island of Ireland has never been more important.
Jackie King
With over twenty five years of domain expertise in developing and commercializing cutting edge solutions for pharma, biopharma, food and beverage and packaging technology sectors, Dr Richard Fernandes founded and built the multi-award-winning Irish biotechnology company, Luxcel Biosciences Ltd., selling the company to NYSE listed Agilent Technologies, a Silicon-valley based global technology company, and going on to run a global bio-tech business for Agilent as General Manager.
I’m delighted to join InterTradeIreland’s board and to be part of an organisation that is a key support to thousands of businesses. I have the experience of taking part in InterTradeIreland’s Seedcorn Investor Readiness competition a number of years ago. This was an important springboard for my business at its early stage and I saw first-hand the value these initiatives provide.
