InterTradeIreland hosted their second ‘Cross-Border Trade – What you need to know’ event in The Ebrington Hotel, Derry-Londonderry on Wednesday 22nd November 2023. With a focus on Customs and VAT, the event provided an interactive forum to help over 100 attendees get the answers they need to support future cross-border trade.

Speaking about the event, Colin McCabrey, InterTradeIreland’s Director of Trade, commented,

“We were delighted to see so many businesses in attendance at our latest cross-border trade event in Derry-Londonderry. There is a clear appetite for practical guidance and support in the areas of Customs and VAT and businesses are seeking help to navigate the new trading arrangements as efficiently as possible. With cross-border trade growing year on year, InterTradeIreland is here to help businesses on their cross-border export journey, every step of the way.”

At the event, InterTradeIreland shared the latest information, advice and funded support available through their new Cross-Border Trade Hub, a digital ‘one stop shop’ that guides companies through the changes to cross-border trading conditions under the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement and the Windsor Framework.

A line-up of expert speakers were also on-hand to share the latest Customs and VAT rules for businesses currently trading or thinking about trading across the border and to advise on practical tips to easily navigate the new trading conditions in the cross-border market. Speakers included Jonathan Walsh from Fortior Insights Ltd; Emmet Colleran, Colleran Accountants; Zandra Horgan, HFS Accountants and Matt Boutros from Derry Bros Customs Clearance Ltd. A wealth of knowledge was shared on the day, from advice on trading under the Windsor Framework through to practical insights into customs paperwork and the importance of customs compliance and auditing.
