I am a Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) Procurement and Supply Professional and a senior procurement professional with twenty years’ experience in the public and private sectors covering the water, consultancy and pharmaceutical industries. Prior to moving into Procurement, I worked for a small IT consultancy, a building society and was a teacher.

I was Head of Operational Procurement at NI Water for 10 years until January 2020, responsible for procuring supplies and services worth £120m pa. I worked with budget holders to create tender documents and pricing schedules, reviewed tender submissions and dealt with queries from disappointed tenderers. I saw many good and poor tender responses over the years and used this insight to help potential suppliers to improve their tenders. Many mistakes were easily avoidable and I hope to help you avoid them.

I have a broad knowledge of the goods and services which Utilities buy: repair and maintenance, mechanical and electrical goods and services, minor works, facilities management, chemicals, ICT and professional services. I am experienced in tendering utilities which all organisations buy: energy and telecommunications.

I am an expert in the Utilities Contracts Regulations and Public Contracts Regulations and can help you to understand these complex procurement regulations (to the extent that you need to) and how they affect the interactions you will have with public sector buyers, the tender documents you need to complete and the tender process.

I have a good lay person’s knowledge of contractual terms and conditions and can help you to understand the risks to your business and what can be mitigated in your tender responses and business practices.

I established my own business in February 2020 to build on my experience and to have more time for my family and hobbies.
