About SustainIQ

Founded by Maria Diffley and Liam McEvoy in 2018, SustainIQ has emerged as a significant player in the sustainability sector. Both founders bring extensive experience in sustainability, having identified a pressing need for efficient data capture and analysis in their respective sectors.

This realisation led them to create SustainIQ, a comprehensive software solution designed to assist businesses in monitoring, measuring, and reporting on their social, economic, and environmental impacts. The platform integrates various sustainability metrics into a single, easy-to-use dashboard, allowing businesses to track their environmental and social impacts accurately and in real-time.

The company’s clientele includes prominent names such as Gilbert-Ash, Elliott Group, McCue and JP Corry. SustainIQ’s software is now used on over 600 sites across the UK and Ireland, a testament to its growing influence and the increasing importance of ESG in business operations.

The InterTradeIreland programmes are really smartly designed to benefit you and your business, depending on what stage you are at. So they are all kind of interlinked. I would definitely recommend InterTradeIreland to any business that is looking at increasing their cross-border sales, or interested in looking at another export sector.

How SustainIQ have worked with InterTradeIreland

E-Merge | 2021

The E-Merge programme, which ran from 2020-2022, provided fully funded consultancy support to help businesses develop online sales and ecommerce solutions. Speaking about the benefits of taking part, Liam McAvoy said: "The programme has provided useful, practical resources and learning that will help our team fast track our marketing to potential clients in Ireland."

Seedcorn finalists | 2022

The Seedcorn Investor Readiness Competition mirrors the real-life investment process and is the perfect chance for start-ups and early-stage businesses to get ‘investor ready’. Participants, who are in with a chance to win a share of a cash prize fund, can secure expert feedback on their business plans and pitches, gain exposure to investors, all while boosting their firm’s profile.

The Seedcorn programme was so beneficial for us. What it really helped us to do was to put down what the next 10 years looked like, what does our exit strategy look like. That programme was absolutely excellent.

Liam said: "One of the biggest things Seedcorn forced us to do was to take time out of the business and look strategically at where we wanted to get the business to, and put a real robust business plan in place."

Acumen | 2023-2024

Acumen is designed to make cross-border exporting easier for businesses and reduces the financial risk of investing in a new export market. Businesses taking part in Acumen receive a valuable contribution towards the cost of a sales resource, as well as market research, recruitment and sales training and sales support workshops.

Founder Liam McAvoy said that Acumen was a great programme that he would highly recommend: "We are now more aware of the cultural nuances of selling into the Ireland market, something we were unaware of prior to Acumen. Our sales and marketing teams have built better knowledge and understanding of the market in Ireland and we have adapted our sales & marketing strategy accordingly, introducing new targets specific to the market."

SustainIQ generated an additional 20% of annual revenue in 2023 as a direct result of taking part in Acumen, growing their overall customer base by 10%. They are committed to continuing to expand into the Irish marketplace, building on the success from taking part in Acumen.

Cork Trade Mission | 2024

In February 2024 InterTradeIreland hosted a cross-border trade mission to Cork. Eight Northern Ireland businesses, including SustainIQ undertook a two-day visit to explore new export opportunities in the Ireland market including market research and mentoring, prospected leads, and sales meetings set up with otherwise hard to reach contacts.

There are huge opportunities for our ESG reporting software in Ireland with increased demand in sectors such as construction as a result of legislation including the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and Green Public Procurement. InterTradeIreland knows the Irish market and has saved us time and money in opening doors for us. They know the products and services in high demand in Ireland so we can confidently act on qualified leads with little risk.
