Electricity Exchange is leading provider of Demand Response Technologies and Services in Ireland’s electricity market where they deploy their technologies to give electricity users the capability of altering their electricity consumption patterns. The company’s technology aggregates numerous large electricity consumers who, on instruction from Electricity Exchange, can reduce their power consumption for brief periods. This capability is traded in the electricity market by Electricity Exchange made possible by Electricity Exchange’s hardware and software technology which facilitates the remote operation of participating customer sites from the company’s 24hr operations centre.

Project Description

This FUSION project seeks to extend the functionality of Electricity Exchange’s existing product (IoTAS) to enable it to monitor more sophisticated metrics related to the state of health of the power system. A device (namely a Phasor Measurement Unit – or PMU) will be developed and deployed using a Data As A Service model. The new functionalities will expand the scale of the market in which the company operates, by increasing the applications within which the company’s hardware technology can be used.
