Overview

I am an experienced Chartered Engineer and construction professional with 25 years’ experience in the design, management, and construction of projects in General building, housing, Retail complexes, Roads, Bridges, Infrastructure, Rail, Conservation and Restoration, Commercial, renewables and Water sectors. I have significant experience in Traditional, Design and Build, Design Build Finance and Operate as well as Public Private Finance Initiative projects, for Public and Private Clients throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The above experience has exposed me to many management activities, which has resulted in me gaining many aptitudes in; and becoming very proficient with Government Procurement, business growth, bidding and winning work in the Construction and manufacturing sectors in NI, ROI and GB. I am considered an Industry expert in Procurement and tendering by the leading Construction Institutes in NI, ROI and GB. I have been involved in over 250 successful major and minor construction tenders as both Bid manager and bid team members. The combined values of the successful tenders are in excess of 500 million pounds over 15 years.

I take particular pride in working with companies in the SME sector. I have successfully mentored and advised many companies who have had no previous experience of public sector tendering resulting in many new opportunities/government Frameworks and work streams.

In addition to public tendering, I have a particular strength in developing systems that are tailored to suit companies large and small to ensure that tendering becomes a cost-effective part of their business model. Delivering excellent quality tender submissions in the SME sector can be challenging when a dedicated bid team are not affordable. I have continually demonstrated with SME companies that there are management tools and systems that can be easily implemented to overcome this challenge and improve tendering results significantly.
