The Cluster Research Network (CRN) was established in 2021 as an all-island network, initially of individual researchers from The Cluster Centre, Ulster University, University College Cork and Munster Technological University. They came together with the aim of examining and informing the strategic development and operation of clusters on the island of Ireland.
The principle aim of the Gap Analysis of Clustering on the Island of Ireland report is to examine and inform the strategic development and operation of clusters across the island, through identifying a series of gaps in the overall ecosystem which are inhibiting growth. The report produces a series of recommendations to close these gaps and to strengthen and deepen the knowledge, coordination and sharing across an all-island clustering ecosystem.
The Gap Analysis of Clustering on the Island of Ireland report was delivered with support from InterTradeIreland’s Synergy funding programme. Synergy is a cross-border cluster initiative that aims to scale cross border collaboration among SMEs and other players such as universities, third sector organisations and government agencies using cluster and networking supports.
