Deputy Manager – Finance/Equity Advisor

GRADE : Manager (B) Scale £29 072- £36 516 Stg. Per annum

REPORTS TO: Manager – Equity Network

SUMMARY OF JOB:

The Deputy Manager –Finance/Equity Advisor will support the manager in the delivery and development of one of InterTradeIreland’s main flagship initiatives, EquityNetwork, and will play a key role in liaising with SME’s who require information and assistance with raising new equity finance.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• To assist and support the EquityNetwork Manager and team in implementing the actions outlined in the Business Plan.
• Project management of InterTradeIreland’s All island Seedcorn Business Competition.
• Project management of the Education and Awareness Programme.
• To assist SME’s who contact EquityNetwork for information and guidance in relation to raising equity finance.
• To develop relationships with providers of venture capital on the island.
• To facilitate a transfer of knowledge between venture capitalists and the EquityNetwork Team.
• To undertake research into best practice in the venture capital market worldwide.
• To work closely with the lead equity advisor.
• To maintain links with all relevant business networks including state agencies, business angel networks, IVCA, incubation centres, enterprise platform programmes etc… in both jurisdictions
• To supervise staff that may be assigned to him/her and to monitor and review work delegated to other members of the Equity Network team.
• To address audiences on Equity Network and general InterTradeIreland activities

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Candidates must be able to demonstrate that they meet the following criteria.

Essential:

EITHER
• An accountancy qualification having successfully completed the professional examinations of one of the following bodies –

Institute of Chartered Accountants Ireland (ICAI),
Institute of Chartered Accountants England & Wales (ICAEW),
Institute of Chartered Accountants Scotland (ICAS),

Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA),
Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA),
Chartered Institute of Public Finance Accountants (CIPFA)
Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland (ICPAI).

OR
• Part completed accountancy qualification with one of the professional bodies noted above, plus 3 years’ experience (in the last five) of working in a business environment.

• Experience in reading and assessing business plans& interpreting financial statements.

• Experience of all aspects of project management including project development, delivery, monitoring, evaluation and budgetary control.

• Ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills both oral and written.

• Experience in seeking, organizing, evaluating and analysing information to assist decision making.

• Be able to demonstrate strong technical skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel or other spreadsheet packages. Experience of other financial packages is desirable.


Desirable:
• Experience in networking and dealing directly with influential stakeholders from the business community
• Knowledge of the corporate finance and venture capital/business angel market in both jurisdictions
